Eighty years ago, Canadian soldiers helped liberate the Netherlands, showing immense bravery and dedication in the fight for freedom.
As a Dutch immigrant and MPP for Oxford, I understand the profound impact of their sacrifice. Their courage not only freed a nation but also built a lasting bond between Canada and the Netherlands — a bond that continues to shape our community today.
Even though I was not able it to Norwich for the flag raising ceremony today I am still remembering Liberation Day and honouring their legacy and the freedom they helped secure.
