HARDEMAN LAUNCHES ANNUAL BUSINESS SURVEY

WOODSTOCK – Today Ernie Hardeman, MPP Oxford, launched his annual business survey to hear from the companies in Oxford about the challenges they are facing.

“Our local businesses are an important part of what makes Oxford County such a great place to work and live,” said Hardeman. “Hearing about the issues they are facing is important so that I can bring their concerns to the government and help businesses in Oxford and Ontario thrive.”

“In last year’s survey, some of the biggest concerns were hydro rates impacting businesses and consumers and the increasing red tape imposed by the government,” said Hardeman. “Throughout the year I have continued to raise the issue of hydro costs and the impact on our businesses.”

Hardeman’s 2016 business survey found that:

  • Responding businesses were impacted by the rising hydro rates, with 72% of Oxford businesses significantly impacted by the cost of hydro
  • Red tape for businesses has not decreased, with 80% of respondents facing an increase of red tape; and
  • 50% of respondents are small businesses, with fewer than 15 staff.

The 2016 business survey has been mailed to local businesses and can be completed online at www.ErnieHardemanMPP.com/business.

“Thank you to all of the Oxford businesses who take the time to share their challenges with me in the survey and throughout the year so that I can bring their concerns forward in the Legislature,” said Hardeman. “The government should be working with businesses – not against them – to help create jobs and build a better Ontario for everyone.”
