Hardeman Reports Newsletter Survey Results

QUEEN’S PARK-Today in the legislature, Ernie Hardeman, MPP Oxford, reported the survey results from his recent newsletter which found that constituents are concerned about unaffordable hydro rates, the proposed landfill, jobs, and government waste.
“92% of respondents told me they believe there is government waste that could be better spent on other services, including health care and services for seniors,” said Hardeman. “The majority of respondents told me their health care hasn’t improved in the last ten years and that is unacceptable.”
Another area of great concern is the proposed landfill site and the risk to drinking water. Over 94% of respondents shared that they believe municipalities should have a say in the location of landfills, as proposed by MPP Hardeman’s private members bill.
“The people of Oxford support their communities. Not only by protecting their water, but by supporting small businesses which is why 96% reported that they shop local,” Hardeman said. “It’s great to see so many people taking the time to support our local businesses.”
Hardeman launched a Shop Local, Buy Local initiative to encourage residents to support local businesses in response to recent plant closures and layoff announcements in the riding.
“Local businesses offer great products and services, but also provide jobs that help support our local economy,” said Hardeman. “Many respondents mentioned the economy and jobs as one of their five biggest areas of concern, so it’s important that we do our part to support the local economy.”
