Every year, I rise to celebrate the legacy of Oxford-born George Leslie Mackay. Born in Embro, he travelled to Taiwan as a missionary in 1871 and dedicated his life to the local people. There, he built a hospital, Taiwan’s first girl’s school, and founded Oxford College. I’m grateful for the enduring friendship between Ontario and Taiwan that Mackay helped forge.
