MPP Ernie Hardeman brings close to $2 million for local Infrastructure to Oxford communities

WOODSTOCK — Today, Ontario received federal funding approval for long awaited infrastructure projects in Blandford-Blenheim and Zorra. Local MPP Ernie Hardeman made the announcement on behalf of Minister of Infrastructure Laurie Scott, which follows the previous funding announcement for the City of Woodstock.

Approved projects include reconstruction of Bridge 24 on Township Road 12, west of Blenheim Road, which will improve public safety and traffic flow, as well as reconstructing approximately 6.5km of 31st Line between Road 88 and Road 78 to improve the safety and reliability of the road, reduce maintenance costs and extend the asset’s life.

“This second set of projects represent an investment of over $1.8 million from Ontario for the people of Oxford,” said MPP Hardeman. “This will further help to spur job creation, improve local infrastructure and expand our economy.”

Last July, Ontario nominated several local road infrastructure projects under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) for federal approval.

“The reconstruction of Bridge 24 on Township Road 12 is long overdue,” added Hardeman. “The Ontario government’s commitment to improving our local infrastructure, coupled with the investment from the federal and local governments, will help improve the roadways for Oxford residents and businesses.”
